Lip Blush

A wash of colour that restores tone and definition to the whole lip.

What it is

Lip blush deposits soft, translucent colour across the whole lip to even out natural tone, restore a border that has faded, and create the impression of more fullness without any filler. It is closer to a healed stain than a lipstick — the aim is that your lips simply look like better versions of themselves, with colour that does not come off on a cup.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • Lips that have lost definition or look pale without makeup
  • Uneven natural lip tone, including darker outer edges
  • You want the look of fuller lips without injectables
  • You wear lipstick daily and want to stop

Not right if

  • Active cold sores — this must be fully healed and antiviral cover discussed first
  • Lip filler within 4 weeks either side
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • You want a bold, opaque lipstick effect — that is not what this produces

Your skin, specifically

Skin tone
Natural lip tone matters more here than skin tone. Deeper or heavily pigmented lips — common on Fitzpatrick IV–VI — carry cool blue, purple or grey undertones that will pull any pigment placed over them toward those tones. The fix is neutralising first with a warm corrective base, then building colour in a second pass, which is why deeper lips genuinely need two sessions to look even. Promising an even result on pigmented lips in one appointment is not realistic, and we will not do it.
Skin type
Dry, chapped or peeling lips will not hold pigment evenly, so the week of daily exfoliating and moisturising beforehand is not optional — it is the single biggest factor in how your result heals. Smokers and anyone who habitually licks their lips should expect faster fading.
Age & skin maturity
Younger lips hold colour strongly and evenly. Mature lips lose definition at the border and develop fine vertical lines, which is exactly what this treatment addresses well — though pigment can travel slightly along those lines, so we work more conservatively and expect a softer result.

Before & after care

Before your appointment

  1. If you are prone to cold sores, ask your doctor about antiviral cover before your appointment — the procedure can trigger an outbreak.
  2. Exfoliate and moisturise your lips daily for the week before so the surface is smooth.
  3. Skip alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours.
  4. Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks.
  5. No lip fillers within 4 weeks either side of the appointment.

Aftercare

  1. Keep lips lightly balmed at all times for the first 10 days — dry lips crack and lose pigment.
  2. Drink through a straw for the first few days and avoid salty, spicy or acidic food.
  3. Do not pick or bite the flaking.
  4. Expect the colour to look intense for 3–5 days, then flake and appear to disappear almost entirely around day 7. It comes back as the skin settles — do not panic at the halfway point.
  5. No kissing, swimming or sauna for 10 days.

Common questions

Will it look like I am wearing lipstick?

No. Healed lip blush reads as your natural lip colour, improved. It looks brightest in the first few days and settles into something much softer.

It looked like it vanished around day 7 — is that normal?

Completely normal and the most common panic we hear. After flaking, colour can look almost gone. It resurfaces over the following 2–3 weeks as the skin settles. Judge it at week four, not week one.

Does it help with cold sores?

It can trigger an outbreak if you are prone to them, which is why we ask you to speak to your doctor about antiviral cover beforehand. It does not cause cold sores in people who do not get them.

Can it make my lips look bigger?

It creates the impression of fullness by defining the border and adding colour to the outer edge. It adds no actual volume — that requires filler.
